Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer

This role provides full life-cycle support to AWS data centers in Tokyo, from design through site improvement and maintenance. The engineer acts as the primary technical resource for the region, troubleshooting equipment and site failures, conducting root cause analysis, and producing corrective action documentation. Responsibilities include supporting operational issues through ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews, owning conceptual designs for data center upgrades that add capacity and improve availability, efficiency, and sustainability, and coordinating with data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams. The role also involves initiating and leading engineering audits with on-site visits, producing reports on risks and recommended mitigations, and serving as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover. Work may span concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions. Candidates should have knowledge of building codes and regulations, commercial or industrial power or mechanical systems, and experience carrying design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production, along with experience managing engineering projects and consultants.
