This role supports data analysis for multiple consumer game titles from development through post-launch. During development, the role processes and visualizes playtest data to support game balance improvements and debugging. After release, it collects and analyzes actual player behavior from multiple perspectives to improve existing titles and support future development.
Responsibilities include designing data collection according to each game title, providing technical support for data implementation, coordinating with stakeholders, processing and organizing data with data governance in mind, and building and maintaining data marts. The role also creates outputs based on data, operates company-wide BI tools and dashboards, and aggregates data in response to requests from other departments.
The position handles diverse gameplay data, including highly detailed data from games in development and very large datasets from globally played AAA titles. The analytics engineer builds the data environment so that data analysts can focus on analysis. The department is also working on advanced analysis using machine learning and generative AI technologies to support faster decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
Required qualifications are the ability to process data using Python or another programming language, read and write complex SQL queries and perform necessary data operations, and identify users’ needs in order to design and build appropriate tables. Previous development experience related to games is not required.
Preferred experience includes building and operating systems using Google Cloud, building and operating data pipelines, application development, practical experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Looker, and knowledge or practical experience in machine learning or generative AI.
