Depending on each project's deployment scenario, the engineer customizes Autoware and its surrounding tools (simulation environments, fleet operation management systems) to bring an autonomous vehicle to a level where it can run as an actual service, then documents field findings to standardize practices and improve development quality across the organization. Core responsibilities include: selecting sensor configurations suited to the deployment environment; setting up the onboard vehicle hardware environment and middleware; tuning parameters and extending features of autonomous-driving algorithms; verifying and troubleshooting through real-world driving and simulation; optimizing the integration process for service delivery; documenting build procedures and verification know-how and sharing it internally; and continuously improving development processes through automation and tooling. Target mobility spans public transport such as buses and taxis, as well as small mobility robots and factory transport robots, across phases from proof-of-concept integration through full productization. Initial work locations include the company's Shinagawa offices and the employee's home, with telework included in the range of potential future location changes. Employment is full-time with no fixed term.
