Internal Systems Engineer, Enterprise Systems Infrastructure and Middleware

This role manages shared infrastructure and middleware supporting Nikon’s core business systems, including finance, production, procurement, and sales. Responsibilities include deployment and implementation support, modifications and operational improvements, and management, operation, and maintenance of systems already in production.

The position is part of the Enterprise Systems Department within the IT Solutions Division. The team supports the renewal of core systems, enterprise architecture planning, project management, progress tracking, issue resolution, coordination with related departments, and reporting. The role may perform this work directly or manage its completion by other departments. The systems renewal includes standardizing and improving business processes through SAP S/4HANA and connecting business and data across business and operational domains.

Candidates must have experience introducing one or more middleware products, such as JP1/AJS or JP1/IM for job management and integrated monitoring, SVF or invoiceAgent for report generation and document management, or Informatica IDMC for interfaces and ETL. Experience completing middleware implementation as a member or team leader in a large project of 200 or more people is welcomed. Experience advising business departments or application teams and making proposals from a middleware or systems-platform perspective is also welcomed.

The position requires strength in at least one of the required middleware areas and willingness to work across other areas. The team values people who support other domains and teams, set problems independently, develop hypotheses, make proposals, take initiative, and involve others to move work forward.

The employee initially takes responsibility for one or more shared platforms and may later lead group-wide deployment and operations, including planned use by group companies in Japan and Asia. The workplace is the headquarters and Innovation Center in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Remote work is available, with an indicated usage rate of approximately 10 percent. Flextime is available. The position is permanent, with a three-month probationary period, eight hours of actual work per day, a 45-minute break, and working hours listed as 9:00–17:45.
