Data & AI Engineering Manager

The Data & AI Engineering Manager leads data engineers and LLM Ops engineers and provides technical leadership for Well Compass’s data platform. The role works with business leaders, executives, product managers, partner executives, business teams and engineers to advance both the organization and its products.

Well Compass provides digital solutions and business development in healthcare and medical fields. Its services include Tsunaken, a web-based health-checkup DX solution connecting medical institutions, companies and examinees, and a CRM solution for 111 Resort Trust facilities and 205,000 affluent customers. The organization collects and integrates customer and medical data, including PHR, into a platform used for marketing initiatives and medical solutions.

Responsibilities include leading the design and selection of data-platform architecture that addresses advanced security requirements for personal healthcare data and supports long-term maintainability. The manager promotes compliance with security standards for medical information, including the Three Ministries Two Guidelines, reviews members’ designs and implementations, and provides technical mentoring. The role translates business strategies and requirements from executives and product managers into technical requirements, coordinates project priorities and schedules, manages resources, monitors delegated project work and supports members when needed. It also covers hiring, defining talent requirements and selection, maintaining psychological safety, resolving organizational issues, and people management including development and evaluation.

The development and execution environment includes SQL, Python and shell scripting. The cloud infrastructure and agent platform use Google Cloud, including BigQuery, Cloud Run and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The data stack includes dbt and Cloud Workflows for pipelines, Data Studio, formerly Looker Studio, for BI, and Terraform for configuration management. Listed work tools include GitHub, Cursor, Claude Code, Devin, Notion, Slack and Google Workspace.

The initial work location is DeNA’s Shibuya office or Well Compass’s Roppongi office, or a home or equivalent location approved by the company for remote work. The scope may change to company-designated workplaces, including remote-work locations. Indoor smoking is prohibited, with designated indoor smoking areas noted.

The selection process generally includes a casual manager meeting, a manager-and-team first interview, a department-head second interview, a business-division deputy-head third interview, and an HR-head final interview. The number of interviews may change, the casual meeting is optional, and a 30-minute HR meeting is held before the final interview. The second interview is expected to be in person at DeNA’s Shibuya headquarters.
