Build and operate scalable data pipelines that process daily gameplay data from users worldwide. Improve the data platform and develop internal tools supporting analysis of consumer game titles.
About this role
The Data Strategist leads how information is collected and used across Capcom game titles, including AAA titles, from development through post-release. The role analyzes test-play data during development to improve the quality of the user experience, support game-balance adjustments, and improve quality-management efficiency in collaboration with development teams.
After release, the role collects and analyzes internal and external data, shares identified issues, proposes improvement measures, and measures the effects of implemented measures. These activities support improvements to the user experience in current titles and their sequels and contribute to global sales expansion of the titles.
Responsibilities include leading projects to build analysis environments in cooperation with game-development teams and other departments, managing project progress, defining analysis requirements, designing the data to be collected for each game title, and managing log quality. The role also produces reporting and dashboards and plans, proposes, executes, directs, or supports internal education and awareness initiatives related to data analysis.
Required qualifications include experience in analysis work and experience leading projects, SQL and BI-tool experience for data analysis, visualization, and aggregation, experience making improvement proposals based on data-analysis knowledge, and experience leading the progress of a project with a team of at least three people to achieve its objectives. Strong interest in entertainment or games is also required.
Experience in game-title planning or analysis at a game company, analysis at a specialist data-analysis company, KPI and data-collection design, project management, Tableau or Looker use and internal enablement, and experience responding to global personal-information protection laws in data collection are welcome. The posting also describes a preference for flexible communication, proactive ownership, maintaining a balance of speed, volume, and quality, and continued learning of new technologies and analysis methods.
Named tools and technologies are SQL, Python, Google Cloud, BigQuery, Tableau, Looker, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Confluence. The position is full-time at the Shinjuku office in Tokyo. Working hours are 10:00 to 18:30, with standard working hours of 7.5 hours per day. The posting lists a five-day workweek with Saturdays and Sundays off, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, annual paid leave, refresh leave, employee social insurance, an employee cafeteria, massage room, counseling service, shortened working hours for childcare, an on-site nursery, contracted welfare facilities, club activities, patent rewards, long-service awards, stock compensation, savings programs, and an employee stock ownership plan.
