Engineering Manager

An Engineering Manager (department-head candidate) role for a leading Japanese household-finance and asset-management app, operated by a joint venture between a fintech company and a major credit-card company, integrating personal money-management services with cashless and comprehensive financial services. As the product moves to its next growth stage through new financial-service integrations, this role expects the manager to succeed the current department head and eventually lead the whole development department. Main responsibilities include team building to maximize the engineering team's output by improving both quality and productivity; people management of a global engineering team (improving individual growth environments, development, evaluation and hiring); and project management (owning project responsibility, coordinating within the engineering organization, and collaborating with engineers, the business side and PdM teams for project success). Required skills include people-management experience (hiring, development, evaluation) for engineering organizations of 5+ people, 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, and experience driving projects with multinational development teams in English. Required languages: business-level+ Japanese (JLPT N1 equivalent) and basic business English (TOEIC 700+). Based in Tokyo. Full-time.
