Senior Engineer

The senior engineer works as a specialist and/or player-manager across GO's development organization. Responsibilities may include simplifying and refining complex requirements with product and project managers, proposing development order and schedules, improving development processes, and automating operational work. The role also supports higher team efficiency by helping members expand their product responsibilities, identifies work that is more efficient for one person to complete, and personally delivers technically difficult parts. Other responsibilities include rebuilding architecture, reorganizing team structures and ownership, and supporting member development through people management.

The position requires experience as a tech lead for the full development lifecycle, from requirements coordination through release and maintenance, on a web-service project of at least 10 person-months, or equivalent tech-lead experience covering application, server, or frontend development. Candidates must have technical knowledge equivalent to current team members in their primary area, such as Android, iOS, backend, frontend, or data platforms, or be able to learn the area quickly based on prior knowledge. Interest in incorporating generative AI into individual or team development work and substantially improving development efficiency is also required.

Preferred experience includes people management in a team of approximately four or more members, including evaluations and growth support; improving development processes in teams involving ten or more engineers; introducing or reviewing Scrum; introducing requirements-definition methods suited to the field; migrating to a new architecture; automating tests; serving in a product-manager or project-manager-equivalent role; and full-stack development covering an application or web frontend and backend, including database design.

The role supports the GO taxi application and related mobility products. Development teams work on user-facing applications, taxi in-vehicle applications, API servers, external administration screens, and payment systems. The position is not limited to a specific existing team; assignment is decided during selection based on experience, skills, and career interests. Generative AI tools and services available include GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, Atlassian Rovo, Cursor, OpenAI Platform, Gemini/Vertex, and AWS Bedrock. The company provides paid AI-tool accounts or financial support and runs internal and external study sessions.

This is a full-time, permanent position with no fixed contract term. Annual compensation is determined according to skills and experience and includes a fixed overtime allowance for 45 hours per month unless hired as a manager or supervisor. Salary reviews occur twice yearly and a performance-linked lump-sum payment is made once yearly. The position uses a super-flex time system without core hours. It is fully remote within Japan, with no required number of office days, although attendance may be required on specified occasions such as the start or end of employment. The listed workplace is in Minato, Tokyo.
