Frontend Engineer

EventHub is an event-marketing platform used for webinars, conferences, exhibitions, academic meetings and business meetings. It provides event operations, data analysis and communication functions that support lead generation and sales activity.

This full-time frontend engineer role focuses on building the frontend foundation for EventHub. The objective is to enable the development team to implement features efficiently on the frontend while maintaining quality. Responsibilities include frontend design and implementation, refactoring, preparing shared components, improving Storybook and testing, and implementing accessibility improvements. The engineer will work with product engineers and help establish direction for a frontend team that is still in its early stage. The role includes considering and putting frontend policies into practice from the beginning.

The engineering team has approximately 13 members, including contractors. Web engineers generally work across the server side and frontend, and participate in the full cycle from design and development through QA testing, production release and operations.

Required experience includes frontend development using a framework such as React, Vue or Angular; designing and implementing single-page applications; developing in a multi-person environment with code readability in mind; and conducting code reviews. The posting also requires knowledge of web-application security and experience designing and implementing applications with that knowledge considered. Preferred experience includes TypeScript development, interactive UI implementation, creating a product style guide or design system with designers, accessibility-focused implementation, frontend test design and implementation, and Web API design and implementation.

The listed server-side technologies are Node.js, NestJS and TypeScript. The frontend stack is React.js, TypeScript and styled-components. The database technologies are MySQL and Redis, and the infrastructure uses AWS. Other listed tools are Git, GitHub, Slack, Docker, CircleCI, Sentry and JIRA.

The position is based at the company’s office in Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, but remote work is the standard arrangement. Regular employees must attend one all-employee office day each month to encourage communication. Standard working time is 160 hours per month, with a flextime system and core hours from 12:00 to 16:00. Employment has no fixed term, and the probation period is three months with no change in conditions.

The schedule includes a complete two-day weekly holiday, public holidays, year-end holidays and three days of paid summer leave. Benefits include transportation allowance, casual dress, a loaned Mac with a choice of JIS or US keyboard, and social insurance. Indoor smoking is prohibited. Compensation is discussed and determined according to experience, ability and skills under company rules; the expected annual salary is decided after the final interview and explained in the offer meeting.
