Full-Stack Engineer

The full-stack engineer develops one of KAKEHASHI's healthcare products. Possible products include the cloud-based electronic medication record system Musubi, the pharmacy-management analytics cloud Musubi Insight, the patient follow-up system Pocket Musubi, the pharmaceutical inventory and ordering system Musubi AI Inventory Management, and other new businesses.

The role works with product managers, designers, frontend engineers, backend engineers, and pharmacists. The engineer is expected to lead development across the product rather than being limited to one technical area. Responsibilities include taking a broad view of the frontend and backend structure, re-architecting the product where appropriate, and optimizing how responsibilities are divided to improve customer value.

Frontend work centers on feature development for the products, along with refactoring, development of shared UI component foundations, library version upgrades, and continuous improvement of code quality. Backend work includes designing and implementing scalable systems that can accommodate future business changes by making extensive use of AWS managed services. The role also involves balancing speed and quality through serverless architecture and partial microservice adoption.

Because the products handle medical information, reliability and security requirements are described as particularly high. The engineer works on application code, AWS infrastructure, and DevOps while also considering infrastructure configuration, stable development, performance, and system reliability.

Expected work includes implementing software with TypeScript or Python; designing databases using relational databases and NoSQL; designing and building infrastructure based on AWS serverless architecture; and using infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK and Terraform. The role also includes building and operating system-monitoring foundations with Datadog and Sentry, defining specifications with product managers, and conducting feasibility studies based on technical knowledge.

The development organization includes approximately 180 engineers and product managers. Its work covers technology products addressing challenges in Japanese healthcare. The organization supports sharing technical information through development blogs, study sessions, and conference presentations.
