About this role
The role is assigned to the IT Management Division and is responsible for IT governance across domestic and overseas operations of a major securities group. The work supports digital strategy and the use of technology to address business and social challenges through financial services.
Responsibilities include planning medium- and long-term IT and DX strategies in line with management strategy, including examining future business models for traditional securities activities and non-traditional businesses such as real estate, agriculture, and power generation from a global perspective.
The position manages IT investment by allocating investment globally in line with digital strategy, rebuilding quantitative methods to measure the effects and usage of digital projects, supporting decisions to improve or withdraw projects, and planning cost controls that reflect investment effectiveness.
The role also develops and governs system risk management. This includes responding to changes associated with increased cloud use, more stakeholders and complex project management, shorter implementation cycles, user testing, user-led operations, and changing causes of system incidents and potential risks. The employee will help redesign effective frameworks for quality improvement, risk reduction, resilience, and recovery after system failures.
Another responsibility is managing and governing IT resources, including large domestic and overseas IT investment projects. This involves planning optimal arrangements for overseas order systems, settlement systems, and system infrastructure from functional, operational, and cost perspectives, monitoring major projects, and taking appropriate resource-allocation measures.
Required experience includes planning IT or management strategy, including at least three years in a consulting firm or corporate planning function; building frameworks to evaluate the profitability and effectiveness of IT investment; system risk management such as risk and control self-assessments and incident analysis; knowledge of business models using digital technology in Japan and overseas; project management for overseas system development projects of approximately 1 billion yen; and planning the grand design of domestic and overseas system architectures.
Candidates must be able to organize problems without clear answers with colleagues, reach appropriate conclusions through logical decision-making, explain difficult subjects and overall concepts, and use hypothesis-based thinking. Experience in IT governance at a financial institution or consulting firm, management of large-scale system development projects, and strong Japanese and English communication and coordination skills are welcomed. The position is full-time, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, with working hours from 8:40 to 17:10 and a one-hour break. Annual leave, nursing leave, and childcare leave systems are provided. Smoking is prohibited during working hours.
