Network Engineer

The Network Engineer will design, build, operate, and troubleshoot connection infrastructure linking medical institutions with Ubie services. The work spans hospital internal networks, private networks, VPNs, the internet, and cloud environments. Responsibilities include gathering network requirements, designing and reviewing configurations, supporting operations, isolating faults, and helping restore service.

The role covers L2 and L3 networks, routing, firewalls, proxies, and DNS. It also involves evaluating connection methods using IP-VPN, private networks, site-to-site VPN, IPsec, TLS, and mTLS. Logs, metrics, and alerts will be used to improve observability, prevent incidents, and detect problems early. The position also includes standardizing and documenting connection procedures, change management, incident response, and escalation processes.

The engineer will work with product engineers, SREs, sales, and customer success, and will coordinate technically with telecommunications carriers, hospital information-systems departments, and external vendors. Longer-term work includes considering network architectures for future medical information systems.

The position supports Ubie’s expanding services for medical institutions. These environments may include institution-specific security policies, legacy equipment and devices, restricted maintenance windows, and complex divisions of responsibility among multiple vendors. The role is intended to standardize design, operations, and incident response rather than rely only on individual handling.
