Software Engineering Intern

This is a long-term engineering internship in which the intern joins an engineering team and contributes to actual product development. Work may include adding or improving features, conducting technical validation, and other practical development tasks rather than only support work. The assignment is determined in consultation with the company based on the intern’s skills, interests, and preferred direction.

Possible work includes backend development with Go and Python, including feature expansion, new feature development, and the design and development of document-processing components. Frontend work may involve implementing new user interfaces and user experiences or improving existing screens with TypeScript and React. Another possible area is AI-driven development, using generative AI to create tools and methods that improve development productivity.

Potential product assignments include LegalOn, a legal AI product in a 10-to-100 growth phase; WorkOn, in a 1-to-10 phase; and TomoniAI, in a 0-to-1 phase. The products use AI to support specialized professional operations and are offered in Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Development involves collaboration across engineering, design, legal experts such as attorneys, sales, and customer success teams.

Applicants must have development experience in at least one programming language, web application development experience, experience using multiple generative AI models or services, experience solving problems with generative AI, and development experience with Codex or Claude Code. Applicants are asked to submit a GitHub account or work-product URL and information about their experience using generative AI.

Applicants must be expected to graduate in March 2028 from a technical college or university, or to complete a master’s or doctoral program. They must live in an area from which they can commute to the Shibuya office once per weekday; commuting from a distant location by Shinkansen or limited express is not permitted. Git and team development using GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket; web development with Go, Java, or Python; HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frontend development; cloud system design and construction using AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker or similar container technologies; open-source contributions; and technical community activity are listed as welcome experience. English communication ability is also listed as a welcome skill.

The development organization states that it uses either full flextime without core hours or a discretionary work system, with office attendance approximately once a week. Full remote work may be possible under certain conditions. Communication generally uses Slack text communication and online meetings, with in-person meetings and study sessions on office days.
