The engineer owns the development cycle from feature planning and requirements definition through launch. Responsibilities include planning and adding product functions; designing, developing, and testing web applications and APIs; measuring and improving application performance; designing the architecture, including technology selection; and addressing technical debt. Engineers make product-development decisions and are expected to take ownership of the work. The balance of responsibilities is adjusted based on experience.
The role works closely with designers and QA engineers and leads development activities that include design and testing. The team uses Scrum and releases improvements on a weekly basis. Pair programming and code reviews are part of the development environment. Engineers can participate in decisions about the product and its direction, and can actively invest in technical-debt reduction and other improvements. The development machine can be selected freely.

The work location is Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. The office is about 10 minutes on foot from Shinjuku Station, four minutes from Seibu-Shinjuku Station, six minutes from Okubo Station, and eight minutes from Shinjuku-nishiguchi Station. Four remote days per week are available. The work location may be changed to a location designated by the company, and smoking is permitted in an on-site area.
