This full-time role leads development of Akerun Digital ID, a multi-tenant SaaS platform. The engineer works mainly on the backend while also handling frontend development, and works directly with the responsible executive. Responsibilities cover requirements definition, architecture and database design, implementation, technology selection, roadmap planning, code review, quality management, testing, service operation, and maintenance. The role also includes designing APIs, authentication and authorization, access controls, logging, availability, scalability, security, and maintainability, as well as responding to production incidents, analyzing causes, and preventing recurrence.
The product combines a smartphone application, web administration system, digital identity cloud, and authentication gateway. It integrates with external identity providers as a service provider and provides authentication and authorization APIs for external systems. The engineer may also work with the IoT team developing readers compatible with Apple Wallet. The product supports digital identity and access management for organizations such as universities, municipalities, and companies, with mobile identity cards and related services used by multiple types of stakeholders.
The technology stack includes Ruby on Rails, Go, Vue.js, React, TypeScript, Docker, AWS, GCP, MySQL with Amazon Aurora, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, CircleCI, Jenkins, Terraform, and AWS CloudFormation. Experience with digital identity, identity management, authentication and authorization, external identity-provider integration, provisioning platforms, systems for universities, municipalities, or large companies, attribute-based access controls, multi-tenant SaaS, mobile and web administration systems, or IoT systems is desirable. The development organization has about 170 people and works with in-house hardware and software development, sales, marketing, customer success, and logistics functions.
