Orb was a Tokyo fintech company that developed Orb DLT, API-based distributed-ledger middleware for building local currencies, corporate currencies, gift certificates and points programs. Municipalities, companies and software developers used it to create configurable payment systems, while the technology supplied the transaction foundation for Trust Bank’s chiica regional-currency platform.
Trust Bank acquired Orb as a wholly owned subsidiary in 2020 and integrated the company into its own organization on September 1, 2025. Orb therefore no longer operates as a standalone company; its technology, staff and expertise now support Trust Bank’s regional-currency and public-sector digital services. Standalone revenue was not disclosed.
