Qubitcore is an OIST-origin quantum-computing startup developing distributed, fault-tolerant systems based on trapped-ion quantum processors. Its stated business scope includes the research, manufacture and sale of quantum computers and related technologies, plus associated services. It is also building cloud access intended to let researchers and companies use its hardware remotely; annual revenue has not been disclosed.
Its architecture combines ion traps with micro-optical cavities to connect multiple quantum processing units by light. Qubitcore raised ¥1.53 billion in a 2026 seed round for R&D and commercialization, and in September 2026 began joint research with Osaka University’s QIQB OQTOPUS team on a cloud-connected quantum-computing platform.
