Voyagin was an online travel-experience booking platform operated by Rakuten for individual travelers. Its marketplace offered tours and activities, attraction and event tickets, restaurant reservations and premium Japan experiences, while also helping businesses and local governments develop and promote inbound-tourism products. Bookings generated sales from its travel-service and online-information operations.
Rakuten acquired a majority stake in Voyagin Pte. Ltd. in 2015 and later made the group wholly owned. Voyagin Inc. was absorbed into Rakuten in July 2020, although Rakuten continued operating the Voyagin service and added bookable online experiences in March 2021. Rakuten’s merger disclosure reported Voyagin Inc. sales of ¥769 million for the year ended December 31, 2019.
