Civil Construction Site Manager

This full-time role with Kubota Construction manages civil construction sites, primarily for water supply and sewage projects. Daily responsibilities include preparing construction plans, controlling project schedules, managing material quality, and checking worksite safety.

The main area is the Kanto region, with assignments also covering projects in Hokkaido and Tohoku under the jurisdiction of the East Japan branch. Transfers may occur. The initial location is determined with consideration for the candidate’s preference and suitability, and future transfers may be made to any company location.

Applicants must have a high school education or higher, practical experience in construction management, and a First-Class Civil Construction Management Engineer qualification. Experience with water supply or sewage construction is welcomed.

The work relates to water and sewage infrastructure. Kubota Construction’s named proprietary methods and technologies include the Mini-shield method, EX-Danby, Enbico, and lightweight soil. The Mini-shield method is used for small-diameter tunnel construction, while the Danby method rehabilitates existing pipelines by forming a renewal pipe inside them with spirally wound rigid polyvinyl chloride strips. The stated rehabilitation range is an inside diameter of 800 to 3,000 mm using a non-open-cut process.

The stated annual salary is JPY 5.9 million to 9 million, with a monthly salary of JPY 351,000 to 481,000 including allowances. The final amount is determined according to experience and qualifications. A bonus is paid twice a year, in June and December. Commuting expenses are fully covered, and other allowances include qualification, overtime and holiday work, separate-household, and meal allowances.

Working hours are 8:30 to 17:20, with a 50-minute break and eight actual working hours. Overtime is approximately 20 to 40 hours per month. Annual holidays total 125 days and include a two-day weekly schedule on Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays, condolence leave, paid leave, summer leave, year-end and New Year leave, and other calendar-based holidays such as Golden Week. Saturday work may be required depending on the assigned site. Paid leave begins at 14 days after six months of employment.

Benefits include work clothing, a daily JPY 400 lunch payment and site lunch allowance, accommodation at construction sites, a subsidy for returning home twice a month, severance pay, corporate and defined-benefit pension plans, and company housing or dormitories. The retirement age is 60, with continued employment available to age 65 through a re-employment system. Indoor smoking is prohibited.

The selection process includes an aptitude test, a first interview covering work and personal assessment, and a final executive interview. The scope of duties may change to all company duties, and the work location may change to any company office because of business conditions, policy changes, or organizational restructuring.
