Medical Equipment Electrical Design Engineer

This full-time role develops electrical hardware for medical equipment. The assigned work covers one of four areas: equipment electrical systems and PC-related design, analog and digital circuit and FPGA design, mechatronics and control, or high-voltage power supplies for X-ray generation.

PC-related responsibilities include confirming and preparing specifications for embedded PCs, communicating with component manufacturers, and evaluating and verifying the system. The role may later expand to overall equipment design to improve product performance and assure quality. Circuit and FPGA responsibilities include printed circuit board design, component selection, circuit verification and evaluation, and work across development through mass-production launch. A future path is available toward system design and architecture as a circuit-design specialist. Mechatronics and control work includes product design, analysis, prototyping and evaluation in mechatronic control and electrical hardware. This area covers the process from specification development to product launch and includes collaborative design. X-ray power-supply work includes analog, digital and power-electronics circuit design and evaluation and verification for high-voltage X-ray equipment.

Required experience depends on the assigned area. The PC-related track requires knowledge of and design experience with PCs and peripheral equipment, plus knowledge of and design experience with digital technologies including communications, networks and security. The circuit and FPGA track requires knowledge or experience designing boards equipped with ASICs, FPGAs, microcontrollers and communication interfaces. The mechatronics and control track requires experience in embedded software development and design. The X-ray power-supply track requires knowledge of and design experience with power-supply circuits.

The role is part of an organization developing medical imaging diagnostic equipment and in-vitro diagnostic equipment. The organization began under a new structure in April 2026 and conducts advanced and elemental technology development for medical equipment in coordination with various group departments. Candidates are expected to communicate proactively, approach challenges constructively, act with initiative, and make effective use of the people around them.

The position is based at Canon’s Shimomaruko headquarters in Ota-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:30–17:00. Annual salary is listed as 4.3–8.7 million JPY; the specific treatment is determined according to experience, ability and company regulations, and overtime pay is separate except for employees hired as managers or supervisors. There is one salary review and two bonuses per year.
