Group Home Care Worker

A part-time care position at Nichii Care Center Misumi, a group home for 18 residents with dementia, organised in units of nine. Care levels vary from resident to resident, and the home is run on a small, homelike scale.

Staff support residents with meals, bathing, toileting and other daily activities as each person needs. Work is spread across early, late and overnight shifts; a sample night shift runs from a 17:00 handover through dinner and bedtime support, lights-out at 21:00 and room rounds, to wake-up assistance from 4:00, breakfast and a morning handover. Early and late staff overlap with the night shift, so dinner supervision and morning care are done by more than one person. New and returning staff are trained one-to-one by a senior care worker and work independently once ready.

A care qualification such as the Initial Training for Care Workers certificate (介護職員初任者研修) is mandatory; the listed qualifications are that certificate, the Practical Training for Care Workers certificate (実務者研修) and the Certified Care Worker licence (介護福祉士).
