Data Scientist – Generative AI In-Vehicle Agent

This full-time Data Scientist role develops core technologies for a generative-AI in-vehicle agent in the mobility domain. Working with product development teams, the role enables natural interaction between vehicles and users, interprets user intent and situations, and connects that understanding to vehicle controls and in-car services.

Responsibilities include researching and developing in-vehicle dialogue-agent technology using generative AI, LLMs and VLMs; developing intent-understanding and state-estimation technologies from voice, text and multimodal inputs; and designing logic that controls vehicle functions such as doors, air conditioning, seats and HMI, as well as related services, based on spoken requests and behavioral context. The role optimizes and evaluates generative-AI models for in-vehicle constraints including real-time performance, safety and edge implementation. It also conducts validation in simulation environments and with actual vehicles and equipment, identifies issues for product application, and proposes improvements.

Required qualifications include practical experience designing, implementing and evaluating generative-AI or machine-learning models; development experience in dialogue AI, natural-language processing or multimodal AI; and experience working in a multi-person development team, including specification coordination, reviews and collaboration. Leadership experience in AI or software development, cloud development experience using environments such as AWS or Azure, and experience in automotive, electrical-equipment or other manufacturing industries are welcomed. The desired profile also includes proactive proposals, independent action, collaboration with internal and external colleagues, and the ability to move projects forward while learning from challenges.

The named programming languages are Python and C/C++. The environment includes Windows and Linux (Ubuntu), with generative-AI and deep-learning frameworks and cloud environments used as needed. English at TOEIC 600 or equivalent is welcomed and is used occasionally for email, document reading, telephone conferences and business meetings.

Employment is permanent, with a monthly salary starting at ¥339,800 and expected annual income of ¥6.1 million to ¥11.4 million. Overtime pay is provided separately according to hours worked, and final compensation considers experience and ability under company rules. The position is based at the Daiba Development Center, DiverCity Tokyo Office Tower 14F, 1-1-20 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:30–17:30, subject to variation by site, and some departments offer flextime with no core hours and an eight-hour standard day.

The posting states 121 annual holidays under the 2026 plan, a two-day weekend with Saturdays and Sundays off, seasonal breaks, condolence leave, long-service leave and paid leave.
