Develop frontend features for healthcare products, collaborating with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and pharmacists while improving shared UI components and code.
About this role
Pocket Musubi is an electronic medication-record service that connects pharmacies and patients. It supports prescription transmission, online medication guidance, and follow-up during medication periods through LINE, with the aim of improving medication adherence. Integration with the electronic medication record system Musubi also supports pharmacy efficiency and the quality of medication guidance. The service has expanded from approximately 500,000 to approximately 4 million patient users at participating pharmacies over the past three years. Its native app has already been released, but currently provides a limited set of functions and has usability issues to address.
The Senior Product Manager will lead the native app as its product owner, covering business development and promotion through ongoing product operation. The mission is to make the native app the next major growth area for Pocket Musubi. Responsibilities include defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap; planning improvements to the business, service, and functions; requirements definition; and specification planning. The role will also lead major UX and experience improvements, including efforts to improve store ratings.
The work spans four areas: redefining the app’s value and experience concept; working with engineers on refactoring, quality, maintainability, and technical-debt priorities; substantially improving usability and expanding the value offered; and planning and driving remarketing measures to move users to the native app. The product is not a new 0-to-1 build: it already has connections with the LINE version of Pocket Musubi and the pharmacy management screen, so decisions must account for existing assets and technical debt while developing a 1-to-10 growth path.
Additional duties include designing integration with the LINE version and pharmacy management screen, setting problems and improvement initiatives through data analysis, designing and monitoring KPIs, managing development projects, coordinating with sales and customer success, marketing, public relations, and legal teams, and responding to incidents. The role works with engineers on technical direction and with PMM and marketing on remarketing initiatives.
During the first three months, the person is expected to learn the structure of the pharmaceutical and pharmacy industries, customer issues, and operational workflows; understand the specifications, integrations, and technical debt of the native app, LINE version, and pharmacy management screen; and structure current issues using both quantitative and qualitative information. In months four to six, the person will establish the direction and roadmap for rebranding and feature improvements, build agreement with stakeholders, begin high-priority improvements with the development team, and start KPI design and hypothesis development for remarketing with PMM and marketing. From six months to one year, the role will lead native-app growth, demonstrate results numerically, and guide medium- and long-term product strategy and investment decisions.
