AI Researcher (Neuromorphic Sensing)

This full-time AI Researcher conducts research and development in neuromorphic technology for advanced AI in the mobility field. The research areas include low-power brain-inspired computers and AI-chip implementation, biomimetic sensing, time-series signal processing, and AI for robot control. Assignment is determined based on the candidate’s suitability.

Day-to-day work covers research on an assigned theme, including literature and external-company research, planning, experiments, establishing methods, implementation, performance evaluation, and technology transfer. The role also involves preparing technical reports, filing patent applications, presenting at academic conferences, and submitting papers to journals. Collaboration with universities, research institutes, and external companies in Japan and overseas, as well as cooperation with internal business divisions, is included.

The research context includes spiking neural networks designed to emulate the human brain. The organization reports successful training of models with more than 80 layers and implementation of an SNN model in hardware for real-time human detection at under 20 mW. The position provides opportunities for advanced AI research in mobility and for presenting work at leading international conferences.

Applicants must have at least three years of AI research and development experience; experience in industry or academia is accepted. The required language combination is business-level Japanese or English as the first language and conversational-level English or Japanese as the second language. A doctorate in computer science or a related field is welcome. Preferred experience includes FPGA or AI-chip implementation, including Loihi, edge-device implementation, ROS or ROS2, collaboration with universities, research institutes, or companies, Kaggle or programming contests, and patents, academic presentations, or journal papers. TOEIC 700 or equivalent language ability is also welcomed. English is used occasionally for email and conference calls or business discussions, and frequently for reading materials and documents; overseas assignments are listed as zero.

The position is based at the Tokyo Research Center in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. The employment type is regular employment.

The possible change of work scope includes all locations, departments, and plants of Aisin and its related companies in Japan and overseas.
