AI Tech Lead

This role leads technology development for multiple generative AI and AI-agent products within the Digital Strategy Department. Responsibilities span consultation with business divisions, feasibility assessment, requirements organization and consensus building, technical decision-making, development delivery, and operational improvement.

The position leads agile proofs of concept and evaluates generative AI technologies such as AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, and Google Gemini. It designs, implements, and tests AI applications for production use, standardizes cloud development environments, selects tools and libraries, and strengthens the team’s technical foundation.

Additional work includes researching and selecting large language models, developing generative AI applications and agents, designing prompts, and, where needed, working with private LLMs, fine-tuning, LLMOps, operational risk management, and optimization. The role also promotes early detection and resolution of operational issues, stable system operation, and performance improvements.

As a technical leader, the person provides technical guidance, conducts code reviews, spreads development best practices, and facilitates technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders. The role may also communicate initiatives through interviews and event presentations. Example projects include evaluating AI models and plugins, building internal applications on cloud platforms, testing model enhancement through fine-tuning, developing and evaluating proprietary models, and assessing low-code or no-code tools.

Applicants must be able to work autonomously from requirements definition through testing and have either at least five years of frontend or backend development experience, including TypeScript or Python, or at least five years of backend and infrastructure development experience, including Python or a major cloud platform. Experience with business-side coordination, leading technology selection or architecture design, external presentations, cloud development, technical leadership or project management, and practical AI system development is required in the listed alternatives. Preferred experience includes designing and building AWS, Azure, or GCP environments, IaC or CDK, RAG or agent systems, and product or project development for business improvement.

The employment type is permanent full-time employment. The work location is Tokyo, with hybrid office and remote work. Standard hours are 8:40 to 17:10, with 7.5 working hours and a 60-minute break; flextime may apply depending on the department. A six-month probationary period applies. Salary is determined according to company regulations and is not numerically specified.
