Data Engineer

This Data Engineer position is based in DeNA’s Healthcare Business and involves assignment to Well Compass. The role is part of the Data Solution Group within the Well-being Business Division and Business Development Department. The group develops and operates the data platform that supports Well Compass’s business activities.

Day-to-day responsibilities cover the full data platform lifecycle. The engineer designs platform architecture for healthcare data and other personal information, taking account of stringent security requirements and long-term maintainability. The role includes designing and implementing data integrations with system administrators outside the company, including those in the Resort Trust Group. It also involves continuously improving Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart structures and data models to support varied and complex data-use requirements.

The position establishes processes and mechanisms for defining, validating, and monitoring data quality. It also includes infrastructure management, maintenance, operational support, and support for data users. For long-term development efficiency, the engineer improves working and operational practices using infrastructure as code and DevOps. The role further involves working with internal and external data analysts and marketers to enable data analysis and marketing initiatives, building and operating solutions for medical digital transformation, and developing and operating infrastructure for AI use.

Well Compass collects and integrates customer data and medical data, including personal health records, from the Resort Trust Group. The resulting platform supports data collection and use in medical services as well as the group’s hotel, golf, and other resort businesses. It is also used for medical DX solutions, research support including work with Keio University, AI applications, and marketing automation. The Data Solution Group is responsible for forming, organizing into marts, and monetizing the data assets that underpin these activities. The organization is in a formation and growth phase and is improving its platform architecture and data model for broader, longer-term data use.

The named development languages are SQL, Python, and Shell Script. The technology stack includes Google Cloud, BigQuery, Cloud Run, dbt, Cloud Workflows, Data Studio, Terraform, Notion, Slack, GitHub, Google Workspace, Cursor, and Devin. Data Studio is identified in the posting as formerly Looker Studio.

The work location is DeNA’s Shibuya office, Well Compass’s Roppongi office, or a company-approved home or equivalent remote-work location. The listed offices are in Tokyo. The indoor environment is non-smoking, with designated indoor smoking areas noted in the posting. The selection process is planned as manager casual discussion if requested, followed by interviews with the manager and team members, the business division head, the business unit deputy head, and the HR head. The number of interviews may change, a 30-minute HR meeting is held before the final interview to confirm the situation and resolve questions, and the second interview is expected to be in person at DeNA’s Shibuya headquarters.
