Engineering Manager

Role
The Engineering Manager leads the engineering team and development projects. Responsibilities include communicating with product managers, design and QA teams while coordinating development work, and contributing to product design and implementation in addition to management. The hands-on work is web application development using TypeScript as the main development language together with Nest.js and React. Development is carried out in sprint-based agile cycles, and the scope of duties may change to company-designated work.

Product and team context
The role can work across the MeetsMore and ProOne products, which are at different development phases. MeetsMore is in a scale phase with more than 100 services and requires designs that remain extensible while supporting service-specific user experiences. The product team is working with accumulated user data, including plans to use personalization and LLMs in products, while also addressing technical debt and modularizing functions for future integration with ProOne and Promore. ProOne is in a launch phase and focuses on rapid development of new SaaS features. Its planned modular work includes document layout, invoice management and approval workflows. Sales, PM/PdM and development teams discuss priorities together and evaluate feedback before implementation.

The product organization states that it includes more than five people with CTO experience, engineers from companies including Yahoo, GREE, SmartNews, DMM, Rakuten, Dely and freee, and engineers from more than 12 countries.

Qualifications
Required qualifications are experience managing an engineering team and at least five years of professional development experience. Preferred experience includes development at a company with its own product, TypeScript, React or Node.js, performance measurement, bottleneck investigation, and cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP. The posting also seeks candidates who can communicate smoothly with team members, run PDCA cycles quickly, take on unfamiliar challenges, and maintain ownership of the products they develop. Employment conditions
This is a permanent full-time position in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The stated annual salary range is 8,000,000 to 12,000,000 JPY. Monthly base pay is listed as 508,997 to 763,414 JPY, with a duty allowance of 157,751 to 236,601 JPY. The duty allowance covers 40 hours of fixed overtime; additional overtime pay is provided for work beyond 40 hours. Final annual compensation considers skills, experience and current compensation.

The working arrangement is a flextime system with core hours from 11:00 to 16:00 and a 60-minute break during working hours. Holidays include weekends, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays from December 29 to January 3, annual paid leave granted upon joining, and condolence leave, with 125 annual holidays stated.
