Software Engineer, Satellite Platforms and Ground Station Systems

This software engineering position supports the development and operation of multiple small-satellite projects. The role covers either production platform systems or ground station software, with assignment based on experience, interests, and suitability.

In the production platform area, the engineer designs, develops, introduces, and operates shared tools and processes for schedule, risk, and cost management. The role supports visibility into project progress and issues, structured requirements and specification change management, impact assessment, and trade-off analysis involving cost, schedule, and quality. It also supports component procurement, external partner contract and progress management, and technical assistance for proposals and reporting to customers and government agencies.

In the ground station software area, responsibilities include maintaining and improving station control and monitoring systems, adding support for antennas and modulators/demodulators, developing control functions for ground-station equipment, designing, developing, and operating web applications for ground-station work, integrating with satellite control systems, and improving automation and efficiency in ground-station operations.

The role works across satellite hardware, embedded software, ground systems, and business development. The relevant teams are the Production Platform Department or Radio Platform Department within the Platform Division. Satellite technology knowledge can be learned after joining with support from internal specialists. The organization is still developing its project-management tools and standard processes, and the role involves creating practical systems with engineers involved in development.
