LINE Yahoo is hiring a Messaging Backend Engineer for the LINE Platform. As a core member of the Messaging Platform team, the engineer builds and runs the backend services that process tens of billions of messages a day across the LINE ecosystem.
The work is designing and implementing server-side features and internal APIs, designing data structures for large-scale storage with attention to distributed processing, fault tolerance and scalability, and improving reliability, scalability and observability together with other teams. The engineer also helps shape long-term architecture, improves CI/CD, testing coverage and monitoring, and may take on-call duty for the 24/365 service. The stack includes Java, Kotlin, Scala and Spring.
Applicants need solid computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, networking, concurrency), three or more years of server-side development, team development experience, and fluency in Japanese or English for technical communication. Experience with high-traffic systems, distributed databases such as Redis, MongoDB, HBase or Kafka, SRE practice, observability tools, CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
