Full-stack Engineer

This position leads full-stack development of Musubi, a cloud-based electronic medication record and medication guidance system. The work spans frontend and backend development and includes system design, technology selection, implementation, code review, and project planning and execution management. The engineer is expected to assess the existing system from the perspectives of quality, stability, performance, and security, lead designs for its future state, propose and carry out substantial revisions where needed, and address technical debt rather than limiting the work to feature additions and maintenance.

As the lead of a small team of three to five people, the role covers technology selection, architecture decisions, code reviews, project planning, and progress management. It also involves creating a development setup in which team members can contribute effectively and supporting continued, stable delivery of value.

The role promotes development productivity through AI coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, and Devin. The scope includes improving the team’s development experience, establishing coding standards, standardizing development processes including AI-DLC, improving CI/CD, and automating operations.

Working with the product manager, the engineer interprets the product vision and requirements, helps refine requirements and specifications through discussions with stakeholders under the product manager’s lead, and contributes to value-maximization discussions from the perspectives of technical feasibility and soundness. Code reviews and technical discussions are also used to support the growth of other members.

Musubi has been available since 2017 and digitizes pharmacy record-keeping and medication guidance activities. Because the product handles medical information, reliability and security are required at a high level. Its broad functionality has created frontend complexity and backend debt, so the team is working toward a structure that can maintain high performance and continue stable development.

The stated development environment includes TypeScript and Python; Angular, Electron, FastAPI, and Pyramid; AWS services including DynamoDB, Aurora, MySQL, Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, OpenSearch Service, and SQS; AWS CDK and Terraform for infrastructure as code; Claude, Cursor, and Devin; Datadog, PagerDuty, and Sentry for monitoring; GitHub Actions for CI/CD; Google Workspace and Slack for communication; Confluence for documentation; and JIRA for task management.

The listed work location is 105-0003, 2-8-6 Nishishinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, at the Sumitomo Fudosan Hibiya Building, 5F. The selection process consists of document screening, a casual interview, two to three interviews, an aptitude test, a reference check using back check, and an offer meeting. The process may change depending on circumstances.
