QA Manager

The QA Manager will lead quality assurance for products developed by freee. The role includes building QA engineer team structures and operating systems, managing team members, providing feedback, and supporting their development. The manager will also lead efforts to improve product quality across the development organization.

QA activities include reviewing work in upstream development stages, conducting testing before release, collecting and analyzing defect information, feeding findings back to development teams, and improving testing efficiency. The role is expected to promote a culture in which the entire development team helps assure the quality required by each product.

Required qualifications include experience managing at least five direct-report members. Candidates should be able to commit to the growth of team members, seek to deliver user value through products with appropriate quality, work as part of a development team, and build a system in which development members participate in creating quality.

Preferred experience includes test analysis and test management for large-scale projects using knowledge of system structures and business operations; leading large, company-wide projects; directing quality-improvement activities conducted by an entire development team; and conducting or managing non-functional testing such as performance and security testing.

The stated development environment uses Zephyr Scale for test management. Automated testing tools include Postman, Ruby with Capybara and Selenium, Applitools, and Mabl. Other named tools are JIRA, GitHub, and Slack.

The position is a regular full-time employee role with a three-month probationary period. The work location is the Tokyo office at Art Village Osaki Central Tower 21F, 1-2-2 Osaki, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. Working hours use a discretionary labor system with eight deemed hours per day. Days off are Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and the year-end and New Year holiday period. Indoor smoking is prohibited. Online interviews are available.
