About this role

This senior tech lead role is part of an advanced development team reporting directly to the CTO. The role focuses on fundamentally redesigning the iOS development process through generative AI, with the goal of improving development speed and quality. The team is addressing the constraints and device diversity of mobile development and exploring a new mobile DevOps model.

Responsibilities include planning and executing a strategy to improve the productivity of multiple iOS applications through AI-driven development. The role will design architectures that apply successful AI use cases from web development to iOS-specific challenges, and establish development environments and processes that enable AI to understand intent and generate high-quality code. The tech lead will make technology selections and technical decisions across multiple products, lead the development of future mobile experiences that use AI to handle users’ complicated administrative work, and work with executives and product owners to maximize the return on technology investment. The assignment may change depending on business conditions and the individual’s suitability.

Required qualifications include at least five years of substantial iOS application development experience, experience serving as a tech lead for large-scale iOS application development, and experience developing iOS applications with an AI Coding Agent. Interest in new technology, including keeping up early with events such as WWDC and Google I/O, is also required. Android application development experience and experience growing an application using App Store features are welcomed.

The role supports product groups within freee’s integrated cloud software business for small businesses and individuals, including accounting, human resources and labor management, sales management, tax filing, and electronic signatures. It is intended to apply AI across the company’s mobile products and support products serving several hundred thousand users. The position involves direct discussion with management and collaboration across product areas in a flat, knowledge-sharing engineering culture.
