VP of Engineering Candidate

This role works with the CTO to turn engineering strategy into organizational change as Ubie’s engineering organization scales. It converts defined challenges into team structures, responsibilities and decision processes with engineers, tech leads and product managers. Scope may begin with one development organization and grow to organization-wide design and operation. It leads reorganizations and process changes from stakeholder alignment through rollout and adoption, and operates engineering hiring plans, career paths, evaluation and development. Other responsibilities include developing engineering managers, tracking productivity and quality, addressing bottlenecks, and designing development processes that use generative AI. Applicants need either practical software engineering experience or experience leading technology-organization management or transformation projects. They must discuss development processes, architecture and technical debt with engineers; turn organizational issues into team, role and process designs, including from a blank slate; and personally implement and embed changes despite coordination challenges or resistance. Deep technical specialization is not required, but technical understanding sufficient for organization-design decisions is expected.
