Develops backend APIs and frontend features for a new consumer smart-lock web business, using Go, React, TypeScript, MySQL, and PostgreSQL while integrating with the Akerun platform.

About this role

This position develops the web application for the MAT project, a new B2B2C business expanding the Akerun smart-lock platform from business customers into the consumer market. The solution is intended to smart-enable entire apartment buildings, with development collaboration with MIWA.

The role covers backend and frontend development. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and operating backend APIs and features in Go; API design, data modeling, and broader feature design; table design and operation using relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL; and frontend implementation with React and TypeScript. The engineer also designs and implements data and authentication integrations with the Akerun smart-lock platform and connects the new application with existing systems.

Required experience includes designing, developing, and operating web applications; at least one year of Go development; at least one year of development with React and TypeScript; designing and operating tables with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or another relational database; and owning feature design that includes API design and data modeling. Preferred experience includes Ruby on Rails, API design using the OpenAPI or Swagger format, web-service vulnerability response such as library updates and addressing diagnostic findings, SaaS web-system operations covering security, monitoring, and incident response, and team building or team leadership.

The project is in a new-business launch phase and is being expanded to improve development speed, quality, and functionality. The company has hardware and software development teams, while sales, marketing, customer success, and logistics functions are also handled internally. The development organization is described as approximately 150 people, with experienced employees from various industries and companies and regular constructive discussion and feedback. A dual-track evaluation system allows career development toward either management or specialist work.

This is a permanent full-time position with no fixed contract period. The role uses a discretionary work system, with standard working hours of 9:30 to 18:30 and a one-hour break. Remote work is available, but fully remote work is not offered; office attendance is generally required once per week, and an office-centered work style is also possible. The workplace is in Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Annual salary is ¥5.5 million to ¥8.0 million, comprising monthly pay, ability-based pay, performance-variable pay, and a discretionary allowance. The allowance includes overtime pay for 45 hours regardless of whether overtime is worked, with additional payment for hours beyond that amount. The exact monthly breakdown is confirmed individually. Annual holidays total 125 days. Leave includes Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year leave from December 29 to January 3, paid leave starting at 10 days from the joining date, and five days of special leave, including Enecharge, factory-visit, and sensory-experience leave.

Insurance includes employees’ pension, health, employment, and workers’ accident insurance. Benefits include a commuting allowance capped at ¥30,000 per month, a housing allowance calculated after deducting the equivalent monthly commuting cost, remote-work support, a café space, free drinks, club activity support, meal events, book-purchase assistance, internal study sessions, support for attending study sessions, a high-specification PC, a smartphone, and an awards program. A smoking room is provided.
