Niantic

Location-based Mobile Gaming · Augmented Reality · San Francisco, USA

Niantic is now Scopely Explore, Scopely’s location-based mobile-games business. It develops and operates Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now for players worldwide, alongside Campfire for local communities and Wayfarer for mapping in-game locations. Its free-to-play games generate sales through in-app purchases, while merchandise and live events provide additional income.

Scopely completed its acquisition of Niantic’s games business in May 2025. Niantic’s former geospatial technology platform became the separate company Niantic Spatial, which retained Ingress and Peridot; it is not part of Scopely Explore.
