This process engineer works in the Technology Development Division on fusion plants and related test facilities. The role combines process design with field-operation design to improve equipment safety, operability and maintainability and support stable plant operation and technology implementation.
Responsibilities include creating and updating process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), designing operations with field procedures in mind, and developing equipment and piping layouts based on installation procedures. The engineer evaluates maintenance access, inspection space, scaffolding and workability, and coordinates installation matters with EPC contractors and field teams. The role also covers testing and start-up.
Technical coordination is required with mechanical, control, electrical, materials and simulation design teams, as well as with PC companies, suppliers and research institutions. Overseas project work includes customer communication and technical explanations in English.
Applicants must have experience in process design or plant engineering, an understanding of plant start-up, shutdown and abnormal-condition operations, and intermediate-level English. Preferred qualifications include manufacturing or production-technology experience at oil-refining or petrochemical plants, advanced English, several years of overseas assignments or dealings with overseas vendors, knowledge related to nuclear power or radiation use, and experience with capital investment for plant rationalization or capacity expansion.
