Generative AI Engineer (Manufacturing Quality Improvement)

The role is assigned to an AI agent development team within the BR Digital Innovation Department, which develops and implements digital technologies for company-wide business process transformation. The team focuses on improving manufacturing processes through drawing analysis and manufacturability evaluation, using multimodal AI to connect design and manufacturing work.

The position develops AI-based support for evaluating the manufacturability of design drawings. Responsibilities include designing and implementing automatic checks based on manufacturing rules and quality-defect histories, creating judgment logic for different materials and manufacturing methods, and building a knowledge base that uses drawings, specifications, and defect records across sources. The role also covers OCR and layout analysis to recognize shapes, annotations, and dimensions; visualizing manufacturability-check results; proposing corrections; evaluating the manufacturing impact of design changes; and coordinating requirements with business departments and external partners.

Required qualifications are at least two years of experience designing or developing systems that use AI or machine learning, application development experience with Python, and either experience processing unstructured data such as drawings, images, and technical documents with AI or experience improving manufacturing processes or developing related systems.

Preferred experience includes developing document or drawing analysis systems using generative AI, LLMs, or VLMs; knowledge of manufacturing processes such as process design, manufacturability evaluation, or quality control; designing or building RAG systems or implementing AI decision support that incorporates business rules; processing manufacturing drawing data such as DXF, PDF, or STEP; and application development or environment construction in AWS or Azure. The posting also seeks people who independently investigate and validate new technologies, share findings with their team, connect technology with business problem-solving, and are interested in contributing to manufacturing quality improvement through technology.

This is a full-time regular employee position in Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo. Monthly pay starts at JPY 339,800, with an estimated annual salary of JPY 6.1 million to JPY 11.4 million. Examples listed are JPY 6.6 million at age 30, JPY 7.6 million at age 35, and JPY 11.4 million at age 40; these are approximate and are determined according to experience, ability, and company rules. Overtime is paid separately according to hours worked.

Standard working hours are 8:30 to 17:30, with variations by factory or office. Some departments use a flextime system with no core hours and a standard eight-hour workday. The annual holiday schedule provides 121 days for fiscal 2026, with a five-day workweek from Saturday and Sunday, seasonal and year-end holidays, special leave, and annual paid leave. At least eight days of paid leave are granted three months after joining. Maternity and childcare leave systems are available.
