Safety and Health Promotion Coordinator

The role manages occupational safety and health for construction sites including recycling plants and for plant construction and maintenance operations. Responsibilities include planning and managing safety and health programs, providing guidance on safety technologies, equipment and countermeasures, submitting documents to relevant authorities, conducting site inspections and safety guidance, responding to accidents, and providing safety education to employees. The role also analyzes and verifies past accident cases and supports continuous improvement of safety performance.

The position requires experience in construction management or safety management for plant, civil engineering or building construction. Experience with lifting work such as machinery assembly and installation is particularly relevant. Preferred qualifications include safety management experience at a construction company, experience as a general safety and health supervisor, a senior engineer license for machinery and equipment installation, or first- or second-class civil engineering or building construction management certification.

The work is conducted in the environmental engineering business, covering water-treatment plants, sludge-treatment plants, waste incineration plants, recycling facilities and related maintenance operations. Safety patrols and guidance are performed at offices and construction sites. Business travel is required about eight times per month, generally for one to three days and occasionally for up to one week; travel outside the Kanto region may be required.

The normal working hours are 8:30 to 17:15, with eight scheduled working hours and a 45-minute break. Flextime-style staggered starting times are available, with nine start-time patterns from 6:30 onward. Telework is available. Average overtime is approximately 10 hours per month. The position is based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, with relocation initially not expected, although transfers to company business sites may occur for a generalist position.

Employment is permanent, with a six-month probationary period and no change in conditions during probation. Annual holidays total 125 days, with Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays generally off.
