JAPAN AI, a Geniee group company, is hiring an Agent Harness Engineer to design the control layer that lets AI agents on its JAPAN AI STUDIO platform run safely, quickly and reliably. An agent harness wraps the model and manages session state, checkpoints, guardrails, context injection and tool execution, and the company builds its own rather than relying on open source.
The engineer designs and implements the execution engine (graph runtime or state machine), model routing, context management and memory (long-term and working), builds the agent SDK used by about 120 in-house engineers, creates the guardrail and policy engine that controls output, and works with research engineers to bring new findings into production infrastructure used by about 200 companies.
Applicants need a computer-science or related degree or equivalent experience, five or more years as a backend engineer, production product development in Python, production systems that use LLM or AI agents, distributed-system design and coding, and REST or gRPC API design. Fluent Japanese or business-level English (either one) is required. Experience with agent frameworks, RAG and vector databases, and inference optimisation is a plus.
