Data Platform Tech Lead

This full-time role is based in Tokyo, with online interviews available. As a prospective tech lead for an internal product, the position covers planning, architecture, development, operation, and maintenance of the company’s data platform.

The work focuses on connecting data across back-office systems such as human resources, accounting, and recruiting. Responsibilities include designing the data platform’s renewal and data models, creating a semantic layer, selecting technologies, and introducing and operating solutions designed for AI use. The platform is intended to support the evolution of the company’s internal operating environment and improve productivity across an organization of several thousand people. The employer develops integrated cloud services for small businesses and individuals, including accounting, human resources and labor management, sales management, tax filing, and electronic signature products. The internal team is working toward more automated business operations and broader access to company data through AI-supported systems.

Required qualifications are experience as a tech lead or leader of an engineering team; experience building a data analysis environment or carrying out advanced data modeling; experience building cloud infrastructure with AWS or Google Cloud; experience managing infrastructure with infrastructure as code such as Terraform; development experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python; and proficiency with standard Linux commands and Git-based development workflows.

Knowledge of AI technologies such as LLMs and experience applying them to practical work are welcome, as is experience leading large-scale data migration or system replacement projects.
