Data Scientist Intern

This is a five-day, hands-on data science internship for students scheduled to graduate by March 2028. Participants work in teams on a student-adapted version of a sales project for the manufacturing industry that AVILEN has handled. The program covers the process from understanding a client problem and analyzing data to implementing an algorithm, creating a prototype, preparing a proposal, and presenting the result.

On the first day, participants receive an orientation and examine the client challenge as a team. The second day focuses on initial data analysis and selecting a solution direction. On the third day, participants implement an appropriate algorithm and prepare the outline of the proposal. The fourth day is for completing a client-oriented prototype and refining the presentation. On the fifth day, teams present their proposals in a competition format and receive feedback from current AVILEN data scientists, consultants, and experienced project reviewers. A social gathering follows the final presentation.

Employees support participants throughout the program as supervisors, providing feedback and consultation. Additional sessions cover logical thinking, effective document preparation, proposal structure, presentation communication, and career development discussions with current consultants.

Applicants must have a strong interest in business, consulting, or solution proposals, implementation experience in machine learning or deep learning, and a willingness to keep learning and aim for a high level. Practical machine-learning or deep-learning experience, a specialty in statistics, data analysis, natural language processing, image processing, or image recognition, and experience participating in a corporate internship are welcomed. Applicants are expected to be able to gather information independently in the machine-learning field and to have a strong desire to grow through the internship.

AVILEN provides AI software and supports clients with AI and DX strategy, implementation, organizational development, and talent development. Its project teams include consultants, data scientists, engineers, and project managers.

The available sessions run from September 14 to September 18, 2026, or from September 28 to October 2, 2026. The August 3–7 and August 31–September 4 sessions are marked as full. Applicants select a session and may select multiple options. Required participation time is 10:00–18:00 each day, with consultation available for limited class conflicts. The work location is AVILEN headquarters in Nihombashi Bakurocho, Tokyo. Remote and work-from-home participation is available. Full transportation costs are covered, and transportation and accommodation are covered for participants coming from distant locations. Clothing and hairstyle are unrestricted. Salary is not disclosed; a prize is awarded according to ranking in the final-day competition.
