Research Engineer

JAPAN AI, a Geniee group company, is hiring a Research Engineer for its JAPAN AI STUDIO platform, which aims to be the brain of an enterprise by letting AI agents run hundreds of workflows across a company's SaaS tools. The open problems include reasoning quality when searching across several SaaS tools, memory over long business processes, multimodal handling and fast inference when hundreds of companies use it at once.

The research engineer develops and compares agent harnesses, builds benchmarks for large agentic tasks, supports automated evaluation of models and prompts, designs training-data mixes, works with product teams on the hardest agent problems and passes methods to the product engineering team. Papers and tech-blog writing are encouraged, but the aim is results in a live product.

Applicants need a master's or doctoral degree in computer science, AI, machine learning, mathematics, physics or a related field, experience developing complex LLM agent systems, software-engineering and ML experience, large-model training and inference with PyTorch or JAX, a deep grasp of Transformer architecture, the ability to read and reimplement papers, and high-quality Python. Fluent Japanese or business-level English is required (either one).
