Vulnerability Assessment / Game Security Specialist

This role conducts vulnerability assessments of internet-facing websites and servers, as well as game security assessments for online games, to support the safe and continued delivery of Square Enix services and game titles.

The role owns the assessment process from start to finish. Responsibilities include coordinating with the departments responsible for each target, organizing the assessment scope and plan, scheduling and conducting assessments, preparing and presenting reports, checking improvement status, performing reassessments, and closing engagements.

When an assessment is outsourced to an external vendor, the role acts as the coordinating office. This includes stakeholder coordination, schedule and progress management, and checking deliverables. Depending on capability, the person may also take on these activities as a leader.

Required qualifications include at least five years of practical experience in web application vulnerability assessment, basic knowledge of networks and servers, the ability to organize findings and communicate them clearly through reports, and the ability to collaborate smoothly with developers and related departments. Interest in game security and anti-cheating measures is also required.

Experience with Burp Suite, PacketProxy, VEX, or InsightVM is desirable. The posting also lists the ability to read English documentation or communicate in English, vendor control, project progress management, stakeholder coordination, security verification for online games or client applications, and knowledge or experience involving communication tampering, client modification, memory modification, or reverse engineering as desirable.

The position works closely with development departments and may cover both web assessment and game-specific security and anti-cheating verification. It also provides involvement in vendor management. The organization is described as small, with broad individual responsibilities and substantial discretion.

This is a permanent full-time employee position with no fixed contract term and a six-month probationary period. Work is flex-time with core hours, and the standard daily working time is 7.5 hours excluding breaks. Overtime is required. The work location is in Shibuya, Tokyo; a home or equivalent work location may be used when approved, and a work-from-home system is available. Holidays include weekends, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, annual paid leave, and condolence leave.
