Sakana AI is hiring a Product Designer for the team behind Sakana Chat, Sakana Marlin and Sakana Fugu. The product team treats AI not as a simple efficiency tool but as a new experience that extends how people think, create, decide and collaborate, and the designer leads that experience and helps set the company's design culture.
The designer envisions the product experience and designs AI-native interaction patterns that account for non-determinism, uncertainty, failure, explainability, user oversight and trust. They validate ideas quickly through user interviews, usability tests and prototypes, and lead concept, experience, UI, prototype, implementation review and branding. They work with research engineers, software engineers, product managers and researchers, build and maintain a design system and AI interaction patterns across products, and build testable prototypes with prototyping and coding tools.
Applicants need five or more years as a product designer or similar, experience leading design from concept through release and improvement, work with multiple stakeholders, user research and strong craft. Strong Japanese and English are both required. Experience with complex domains, 0-to-1 products, building a design system or fast AI-assisted prototyping is preferred.
