newmo, a mobility startup working toward social implementation of autonomous-driving taxi service, is hiring a Simulation Engineer to lead the launch of a photo-realistic, closed-loop simulator. Learning-based autonomous-driving models require a simulation environment that reproduces the same situations repeatedly for fast hypothesis testing. You would build a next-generation simulation foundation from scratch — leading technology selection, architecture design, prototyping and improvement toward production. Work includes: reconstructing urban environments from driving logs using 3D Gaussian Splatting to evaluate end-to-end models in closed loop; researching and prototyping multi-sensor simulation including LiDAR point clouds; establishing quantitative rendering-quality and sim-to-real gap evaluation; running experiment cycles with ML engineers based on model weakness analysis; and setting the mid-to-long-term simulation roadmap with technical leadership. Employment is permanent or contract. Business-level Japanese is expected. Full-time, based in Tokyo (Ota-ku).
