Data Analyst

The Data Analyst uses data from game-title and manga-distribution-service projects to support planning and operational decisions. The role begins with consultations from producers, project managers, planners, engineers and other stakeholders. Rather than only aggregating requested data, the analyst clarifies the underlying problem, develops hypotheses, leads analysis through review, and proposes actions. The analyst also aligns interpretations with stakeholders based on the intent of each initiative and the user experience, helping lead project decisions.

Responsibilities include data aggregation and report preparation; KPI design and dashboard design and operation for operational projects; discussions with stakeholders to review initiatives, identify issues and propose improvements; analysis for game-balance adjustments and parameter design; investigation of user behavior and responses; investigations originating from customer support; and development or maintenance of data-transformation pipelines needed for analysis.

Required experience includes promoting decision-making through data analysis; practical experience extracting, aggregating, processing and reporting data with SQL; leading an analysis cycle independently while communicating with stakeholders; explaining findings concisely and sharing and discussing them with non-engineering stakeholders; and logically designing analysis based on an understanding of an initiative's intent and objectives.

Preferred experience includes using or operating modern data stacks such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift; operating data modeling, testing and documentation with dbt; designing and operating dashboards with Tableau, Power BI or Looker; reproducible analysis with Python or R; practical problem solving using statistics, causal inference or machine learning; designing or evaluating A/B tests or using time-series analysis such as Prophet; automating testing, deployment or job execution with CI/CD such as GitHub Actions; and using or operating development or execution environments with container technologies such as Docker.

The specialist data-analysis organization has operated for more than 12 years and currently has about 15 members with varied backgrounds. Analysts are assigned in dedicated teams of one to three people to each project, work near development members in the development area, and focus on analysis while communicating closely with them. A specialist data-engineering team handles ETL preparation so analysts can concentrate on project analysis. Projects have fast update cycles, direct user feedback, large-scale data and opportunities to participate from initiative proposals through impact measurement.

This is listed as a regular employee position, although contract employment may also be possible. Work is in Shibuya or Meguro, Tokyo. Hours are 10:00–19:00 with eight working hours and a 60-minute break from 13:00–14:00; average monthly overtime was approximately 18.5 hours in 2025. Annual salary is JPY 4.5–12 million, determined according to experience and ability, with a semiannual performance incentive. The stated annual salary includes scheduled overtime and late-night allowances, paid regardless of whether such overtime occurs.

The schedule includes a complete two-day weekend, public holidays, summer leave of three days taken between July 1 and November 30, year-end and New Year leave from December 29 to January 3, annual paid leave of 10 days granted on the joining date in the first year, and condolence leave. Insurance includes health, employment, workers' compensation and employees' pension insurance. Support includes communication events and club activities, social gathering subsidies, a game-play room, onboarding training, learning programs, a skills Thursday program, mentoring and trainer support, influenza vaccination, an on-site massage service, free soft drinks, lunch assistance, babysitter discounts, brain scans, rent assistance, moving allowances, child allowances and a corporate defined-contribution pension plan. Side jobs are prohibited. The listed offices are generally smoke-free indoors, with dedicated heated-tobacco smoking rooms.
