About this role
Tailor develops an AI-native, headless ERP platform and delivers customer projects on it through its Professional Services group. The Forward Deployed Engineer (Lead) is accountable for a project's success, owning it end to end from pre-sales to delivery.
The lead works deep inside the customer's operations: scoping the problem while requirements are still unclear, designing the business process and solution, implementing and delivering it, and making the final technical decisions on architecture, with the duty to explain them to customers and colleagues. Reusable solutions found on a project are returned to Tailor Platform. Candidates may come from engineering, consulting, design, product or startup-leadership backgrounds. The stack includes TypeScript, React, Next.js, Terraform and Datadog.
Applicants need experience carrying product development end to end with accountability (roughly five or more years), experience leading solution and architecture decisions and explaining the reasoning, experience moving projects forward under uncertainty, and the ability to work from the office most days. Native-level Japanese for technical communication is required. Enterprise domain knowledge, AI-native product experience, GraphQL and business-level English are preferred.
