Lead development for a spend-management product, shaping product, team, or technology strategy and building scalable backend and frontend systems for financial workflows.
About this role
This full-time role develops freee IT Management, a product for addressing the account-management and operational challenges faced by corporate IT and information-systems departments. The work covers frontend and server-side development as well as planning, design, implementation, testing, measurement and improvement.
The product team is working to integrate and analyze large volumes of SaaS data, use AI including LLMs for IT asset management and workflow automation, and automate authorization and permission management to standardize SaaS integrations. The role also includes strategically addressing technical debt in the product’s 1-to-10 growth phase and building a scalable foundation.
Responsibilities include developing integrations with external SaaS products and other freee services, designing and implementing AI-supported process automation, and taking on technical challenges in infrastructure and mobile development, including React Native. The engineer will work with sales and product managers to hear customer needs through activities such as business meetings and reflect those findings in the product. After gaining domain knowledge, the role may expand to product roadmap planning and customer interviews, with the potential to contribute as an application product development lead candidate. Assignment details may change according to business circumstances and the individual’s suitability.
Applicants must have at least three years of web application development experience and practical experience on both the server side and frontend. Preferred experience includes AI-assisted development, project leadership or leadership as an engineer within a team, external-service API integration or GraphQL development, React Native mobile application development, Ruby development, and infrastructure operations using Terraform and infrastructure as code.
The role involves collaborating beyond one’s primary area, including infrastructure, mobile and business functions, independently investigating customer needs through hypothesis testing, and sharing documented experience with the team. The position is based at the Tokyo headquarters in Osaki, Shinagawa, Tokyo. It is a permanent employee position with a three-month probationary period and a discretionary work system based on eight deemed working hours per day.
