Animation Designer – Effects

The role creates visual effects for multi-platform game development covering mobile, web browser, and PC games. Responsibilities include producing effects, supervising their quality, developing team members, and researching and proposing the introduction of new forms of effect expression.

Required qualifications include at least two years of effect production experience using Unity or Unreal Engine. Candidates must have implementation experience and knowledge of effects that include particles and shaders. The role also requires smooth communication in both written and spoken form, including the ability to explain the quality of an effect and the intention behind its expression.

Preferred experience includes releasing a game title, producing effects with Maya, 3dMax, or Blender, creating screen direction or mockups with AfterEffects, and supervising effects or leading a team. The stated profile also values an interest in games, prioritizing the player experience, teamwork that helps move the team forward, a fast pace of work, and active research and sharing of new expression methods.

The listed employment type is full-time. The posting states that contract employment or an outsourcing contract may also be used depending on the arrangement. Annual compensation is 4.5 million to 12 million JPY, determined according to experience, ability, and company rules. The work locations are offices in Shibuya and Meguro, Tokyo. Indoor smoking is generally prohibited, with dedicated heated-tobacco smoking rooms available. Holidays include a two-day weekend on Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays, summer leave of three days taken between July 1 and November 30, year-end and New Year holidays from December 29 to January 3, ten days of paid leave granted on the joining date in the first year, and condolence leave.
