Communication Designer

This full-time communication designer role plans and delivers communication centered on graphic design for Canon products, services and corporate activities. The work involves collaborating with a range of internal and external partners, developing design strategically, and creating not only visual materials but also ways for corporate messages to reach their intended audiences clearly.

Projects may cover products in imaging, printing, medical and industrial businesses; sustainability and environmental activities; social and cultural support; corporate sports branding; and design exploration for varied communication challenges. The role is based in Canon’s Design Center, where communication design supports the company’s products, services and non-product activities.

Applicants should have practical experience in graphic or visual design, including work in areas such as branding, CI/VI, editorial design, advertising, web or events. The posting seeks people who can identify changes and issues independently, propose ideas proactively, take on new design fields, and communicate effectively to promote collaboration with team members and partner departments. Applicants must have practical experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and be able to visualize information accurately and to a high standard for the target audience and situation.

Experience with InDesign, AfterEffects or Premier is welcomed. Knowledge, practical experience or skills involving video, spatial design or 3DCG software are also welcomed. Applicants may include portfolio details and URLs for work or video projects handled professionally.

The position is at Canon’s headquarters in Shimomaruko, Ota-ku, Tokyo, approximately a 10-minute walk from Shimomaruko Station. Standard working hours are 8:30 to 17:00; some sites use 8:00 to 16:30. Annual holidays total 125 days, with generally two days off per week, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, a May holiday period and summer leave. Annual paid leave is 20 days, depending on the joining month in the first year, and a five-day free-vacation leave system is available.

Annual compensation is listed as 5.3 million to 8.7 million JPY. Overtime is paid separately, and the joining salary and bonus are determined based on experience, ability and company regulations. Salary reviews take place once a year and bonuses are paid twice a year, in June and December.
